8 Reasons to Ski Midweek

When you can swing it, skiing and riding midweek is one of the greatest things ever, and doing it on Sunday River’s eight peaks is no exception. We love it so much, we made this list for you. Just don’t brag too much to your friends with regular 9-to-5 jobs.

1. Sleep in

When lifts don’t spin until 9AM, you get an extra hour to snuggle up in bed and drink your morning coffee in peace. What could be better?

2. Close parking

When you don’t have to beat the crowds, chances are you won’t have to park midway down the access road and lug your stuff into the lodge either. Of course, our shuttle drivers are happy to give you a ride when it’s busy, but you won’t necessarily need them midweek.

3. Tickets are always cheaper

Midweek rates at the ticket window are $79, but you’ll never pay that much when you buy your tickets online in advance. In fact, a limited number of tickets are in stock at $53 a pop. Buy online. Save up to 30 percent. It’s that easy. Plus, new this season, New Hampshire residents save on lift tickets on Tuesdays, and Maine residents do on Wednesdays with proof of residency.

4. Ski right onto the lift

With very few lift lines midweek, you’ll actually get way more skiing in than on a weekend, which makes up for the fact that lifts open at 9AM instead of 8AM. And it gives you a chance to chat with our friendly ticket checkers without holding up the line behind you.

5. Fresh tracks in the afternoon

Want to score a run on perfect corduroy without having to wake up early? Here’s your chance. Whether you duck into the woods or stay on the groomers, you’re way more likely to find untouched snow midday during the week.

6. Meet the locals

When you ski during the week, you tend to meet quite a few locals who know this place inside and out. They might be wary to take you under their wing, but some are happy to show you their favorite stashes.

7. Cheap eats and drinks

We recently revealed some of the top discounts on delicious meals and drinks in Bethel, Newry, and Greenwood, and you definitely don’t want to miss out on pizza nights, $5 burgers, and half-priced appetizers.
