Leaf Peeping for Adventurers

Every autumn as the leaves change from green to gold, orange, and red, thousands flock to the Northeast to catch a glimpse of the foliage in peak season. And whether they hike through the trees to the tops of mountains or take scenic drives, leaf peeping isn’t exactly a high-adrenaline activity.

Or is it? You see, we have some of the most stunning foliage each fall, with more ways to view it in our Mountain Park than your typical stroll through the woods. All you have to do to get in on the action is head to Sunday River Sports in the South Ridge Lodge.

The first and most thrilling is the Zipline Tour. Our guides are not only experienced and ready to teach you the ways of the zips, but they are also hilarious and will make your traipse through the trees unforgettable. With six ziplines, plus a Twin Zip finale, you and the whole family will be sure to enjoy leaf peeping while soaring at top speeds.

The Sunday River Bike Park also offers over 20 miles of terrain on our slopes, ranging from a leisurely ride down Three Mile Trail to a challenging trek down Tombstone. For the new or less-than-confident downhillers, we offer 90-minute clinics through the Mountain Bike School with a PMBIA-certified instructor. You’ll see fall colors on the chairlift ride to the top, and as you whip past the trees on the trails.

For a slower pace, our brand new Disc Golf Course is just the ticket. You’ll take our signature Chondola lift up to North Peak, and work your way back downhill on foot at a leisurely pace—to take in the views, of course— through 18 holes of fun. Discs are available, but we encourage enthusiasts to BYOD.

Once you get back to home base at the South Ridge Lodge, you can explore the Climbing Wall, the Bungee Trampoline, the Twin Zips, and Scenic Lift Rides all on the Adventure Pass. Our Mountain Park is open Friday through Sunday from 10AM to 4PM until October 9.
